Very good my girlfriend and I have stayed at the hotel 5 times. On my bday they upgraded us to a suit on the top floor for free. We will be back.

What a fantastic hotel, the room was huge, the bathroom was enormous. Food and service was first class. The butlers were very charming and welcoming.

Really three and a half stars from five. The Vermont offers reasonably priced rooms but there is no real sense of luxury. The exterior promises a lot and really fails to deliver. If you want to feel that you are living it up in style I would suggest staying elsewhere. The definite let downs: the fixtures and furnishings felt rather worn and bathroom needed updating. However, the room service food was lovely and I would only complain that the crème brulee's crust was too thin. All staff encountered were helpful and polite. The best things: city centre location and inclusive parking, *late check out* on a Sunday - effectively adds another day to your break at no extra cost.

Right across the road from the train station, boasting a dining hall with food from all around the world and a fantastic breakfast buffet. Rooms very well kept and staff were very friendly. Highly recommended!

I stayed here in August 2008 and the experience was not very nice. I have read all the recent negative reports about this place and agree with all the points. The owners are rude and disagreeable. The rooms are pokey and not very clean. The showers are a dangerous joke. I do not consider myself a particularly picky person and have travelled a lot in my 70 years but this hotel ranks as one of the worst I have ever stayed in. St.Ives is such a nice place but the Longships experience has put me off ever going back.

We have just returned from a second visit to Moccas Manor; a surreal experience where we found ourselves effortlessly slipping into another slower, far more gracious – and not in the least grand. Moccas isn’t a hotel, it is a country manor, and with Ben and Mimi as friendly and welcoming hosts, bedrooms fit for royalty and excellent, unobtrusive staff anticipating and catering for our whims, the fantasy was ours to create. Edwardian or Victorian house party or return to the year when work began on the present house. 1775, coincidentally the year Jane Austen was born. Elizabeth and Jane Bennett, Darcy and Bingley would have been perfectly at home within its walls. Just as we were. When you dine by candlelight in the round dining room with its hand painted decoration designed by the Adams brothers, you too can be an aristocrat. The food is hearty, elegantly served, and tastes just the way it should. We have made friends and enjoyed amusing conversations around the table, as guests have done for almost three centuries. The temptation is to linger there until morning. Breakfast can continue for hours. The position of the house on the banks of the Wye is idyllic and apart from birdsong silent. An early morning walk in the fields and gardens when the mist is hanging over the river something to savour when all of it is yours – for a while. No question about it, as soon as we can steal a few days we will return. No more hustle and bustle of airports for city mini breaks when we wear ourselves out before we reach our destination. After only one night I returned refreshed with more ideas than I'll be able to write in a lifetime. Ben and Mimi thank you from the heart. Without unselfish people like you, Moccas Manor would be lost and that would be a catastrophe. We all need reminding of a more gracious and beautiful style of living from time to time. Our gratitude for sharing Zulu and your home with us. The memory has stayed with us and made the transition back to reality less painful. We'll see you again very soon. Catrin Collier and party.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience, with a warm welcome from Vanessa and James. An immaculate, modern, superior quality, quiet guest house, on the main road into Western-so easy to find.Would highly recommend to anyone looking for something above the average

Stayed at this hotel in August 08 and couldn’t fault with it at all, very clean, plenty of different restaurants to eat in, found the staff very friendly and always willing to help. Will definitely return to this hotel again.

Excellent all round, we stayed with a coach party. Food was very good, rooms clean, lounge tastefully decorated, bar like a miniature pub and good evening entertainment. Many thanks to Olive, Clive and team. St. Ives is very picturesque and has something for all age groups, surfing, good clean beaches, lovely harbour, art galleries and museum, plenty of eateries to choose from etc.
